The Other Skill A-Sellers Have (Not Focus)
Everyone talks about focus as #1 skill of top sellers and entrepreneurs. But there is another one that is just as important:
Patience.
You won't succeed if you can't hold out and play the long game.
You'll burn all your leads and contacts for some short-term gains, while missing out on the bigger returns later on.
(This is why I covered a whole section on the compounding mindset in the context of personal connections in my ebook “Winning buyers as Humans”).
The quote is from my favorite book - I read it once a year: “Siddartha” by Hermann Hesse.
It’s about man's journey to find enlightenment, exploring different lifestyles before realizing true wisdom comes from within.
As part of this journey, he meets a merchant (in order to earn money to impress a woman).
The merchant asks him what he is good at. Siddartha responds:
“I can think, I can wait, and I can fast.”
The merchant is confused. How is that relevant?
"When a person has nothing to eat, fasting is the wisest thing he can do.
If, for example, Siddhartha had not learned to fast, he would have to take up some kind of work today, either with you or anywhere else, because hunger would force him to do so.
But as it is, Siddhartha can wait calmly; he knows no impatience, no emergency; he can endure hunger for a long time and can even laugh about it."
Later in the book, he learns about the skill of listening to the river... something I have seen all a-players do.
They time their moves carefully!
Long story short: Patience pays… off! :)
