You’re Doing Budget Discovery Wrong
Entire department budget ≠ budget for your project
(High chance you're taking this catch too lightly)
When you’re competing for budget, it’s often not just against direct competitors.
In many cases, you’re competing for the budget of a whole department.
This may include projects that have nothing to do with your solution––because yours cannot solve (all) these problems.
With that, your (budget) discovery has to become broader:
1/ What gets funded first (#1 prio)?
2/ What else is on that list (order)?
3/ What do you lack to move up that list?
Otherwise, you may find that your deal is "suddenly" lost because the budget went elsewhere.
How do you run your budget disco?
